The aftermath of their Champions League exit could end up being a massive catalyst for FC Barcelona. Changes in the locker room could be fast approaching, and that means name changes beyond just the coach. Xavi’s exit from Barcelona may be expected, but it seems that he may not be the only change.

As per emerging reports, Barcelona are already looking at profiles that can help the team move forward. Already a team full of stars that have shown themselves to be capable of competing against the top opponents, it seems that just a few pieces remain unattended to in this new generation of FC Barcelona.

However, it seems that the Catalan giants are already making progress in terms of a position they want to reinforce. As per Gerard Romero, Barcelona Director Deco has recently met with the agents and father of Spanish forward and attacking midfielder Dani Olmo, who currently plays for Bundesliga side RB Leipzig.

Formerly a player of La Masia himself, Olmo has been on the move away from Barcelona since 2015. Whether it be in Croatia or Germany, the Spaniard has gradually honed his skills and made himself to be a capable asset for both his country and his club, whichever one it may be.

However, over the past few seasons, Olmo has regularly been linked to a move back to Barcelona. Yet, due to the financial constraints of the Catalan giants, a move has ultimately not happened and for now, Olmo continues to ply his trade over in the Bundesliga.

In the summer transfer window, however, perhaps a move can finally materialize. For now, there is no guarantee as to what exactly was discussed between Olmo’s representatives and Barcelona Director Deco, but there is a sense of urgency within the Catalan club, so it may as well have been an initiative to start talks between the two parties over a potential move.

So far this season, the former Barcelona academy product has 8 goals and 5 assists in 22 appearances across all competitions. Not exactly numbers that would be labeled as world-class statistics, but a great deal of what Barcelona reportedly values about Olmo comes from his ability to control the tempo of the game and his level-headed understanding of proceedings around him.
