There are not a lot of changes expected in the FC Barcelona team in the upcoming January transfer window, but the Blaugranes will still have a lot of work on their hands in the coming weeks.
They will have to address the registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor on a priority basis in this window, and this will be the most important task they will have on their hands in January.
As MARCA has reported, Deco made it clear that the club is working on this matter but did not give away any details on the matter as he spoke to the media while attending a charity match organized for the children affected by the DANA floodings in Valencia.
The Barcelona Sporting Director did not have a lot to say about Olmo’s registration: “It’s being worked on; there’s not much to discuss.”
The Portuguese official also talked about what his team needs to do in La Liga: “In La Liga, we need to earn points. We know this. There’s not much to discuss. We need to play and be stronger than the others.”
Deco was not too concerned about Real Madrid getting nearer to the top of the table:
“We have to focus on ourselves. The team that earns the most points will win La Liga. Every match will be tough, and tomorrow will be another difficult game. We’ve dropped points in recent rounds, but we recovered them in a challenging venue like Mallorca. Tomorrow will be another battle.”
In tonight’s match against Real Betis, Barcelona will be facing their own player, Vitor Roque, who is playing for the Verdiblancos on loan this season. The Barcelona Sporting Director expressed his satisfaction with how this loan is going:
“He’s scoring goals. Betis has had good matches, even though the team hasn’t always been at its best. But they’re a great team. Vitor is contributing and working well. The plan for him to go there to get playing time is going as expected.”
The former Portuguese midfielder also talked about Raphinha’s evolution at Barcelona this season:
“In his first season, where Barça won La Liga, he was crucial. He scored many goals, provided assists, and was among the most utilized players. However, when things don’t go well, individual contributions often aren’t fully appreciated. This year, the team has started strong, he’s performing well, and things are falling into place.”
However, when asked about Barcelona’s interest in Jonathan Tah, the official refused to comment on this topic: “I won’t comment on this topic.”
Recent reports indicate that Tah’s agent has already reached an agreement in principle with Barcelona, but it has not yet been confirmed, and as Deco also did not clarify anything at this moment, it remains to be seen how this operation pans out.
