Following a successful 2024/25 season, it will not come as a surprise to see players from FC Barcelona dominate the individual award scenes in the months to come.

As has already been established, Lamine Yamal, Pedri, and Raphinha are all in the running for the 2025 Ballon d’Or.

The aforementioned trio, along with Robert Lewandowski, are also nominated for the La Liga Player of the Season award.

Pau Cubarsi the frontrunner for Golden Boy

Now, teenage sensation Pau Cubarsi has emerged as the frontrunner to win the 2025 Golden Boy Award later this year.

As per the latest ranking data released by Tuttosport, the organisers of the award, Lamine Yamal is leading the Golden Boy Index as of this month with a rating of 97.7.

However, given he was the winner of the honour last year, he is now ineligible for the prize in 2025.

Pau Cubarsi, who is behind Lamine in the second spot in the Golden Boy Index, is hence now the frontrunner for the prestigious award. The 18-year-old centre-half currently has a rating of 95.4.

Cubarsi enjoyed his breakthrough under Xavi Hernandez last season but has taken his game up a notch in the current campaign under Hansi Flick.

The 18-year-old centre-half established himself as a permanent fixture in the Barça defence alongside Inigo Martinez, leaving the likes of Ronald Araujo, Eric Garcia, and Andreas Christensen behind in the pecking order.

A part of the Spanish national team setup as well, Cubarsi is now leading the race for the 2025 Golden Boy.

PSG summer signing Desire Doue sits third behind Cubarsi while his teammate Warren Zaire-Emery also features in the top ten.

Real Madrid new signing Dean Huijsen is also in the running along with Arsenal’s Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri.
