Amidst the positivity around Barcelona’s impressive start to the season, one of the biggest reasons to smile for culers has been Alejandro Balde’s form.

While it seemed as if a potential lone move was on the cards for the youngster, his displays in pre-season convinced Xavi to give him a shot at left-back.

Cementing his position as a regular starter in the side, with only one start on the bench in one out of the six league games for Barça, it’s clear to see that his performances are making the right impression on the legendary midfielder.

Keeping that in mind, it has been revealed that the club wish to tie the 18-year-old’s long-term future at Spotify Camp Nou.

As per a report from SPORT, Barcelona remain keen on offering Balde a contract renewal, as they consider him as a part of their future.

Furthermore, the Catalan giants want to reach an agreement with the wonderkid before the end of the season, as he will be in the last year of his current deal next summer.

A significant offer had arrived for the 18-year-old Balde in the summer. Despite that, it is reported that the player only has his sights set on continuing his spell for the Blaugrana, while the club also wish to keep him around for a long time.

Initial contacts between Balde’s agent, Jorge Mendes and Barcelona are understood to have already been made. However, this has not led to an agreement over the La Masia graduate’s renewal.

Despite there still being some way to go for a contract extension to be confirmed, it is stated that both Barcelona and Mendes are aware that a mutual agreement will be struck eventually and are relaxed over the situation.

Securing Balde’s future is key for Barça, as he is both the present and the future of the club.
