Atlético de Madrid have announced the signing of defender Clément Lenglet on loan from Barcelona.
The Frenchman has reportedly extended his contract until the summer of 2027 with the Blaugrana prior to sealing the move.
Atleti will cover the majority of the centre-back’s salary but the deal does not include an option for them to make the move permanent next summer.
Importantly for Barcelona, the move is a crucial one in freeing up finances to register new signing Dani Olmo with LaLiga.
Their marquee arrival was named in the matchday squad for Saturday’s win over Athletic Club but ultimately could not take his place on the bench without departures being finalised, with the Blaugrana already securing one on Sunday with the sale of Mika Faye to Rennes.
It is Lenglet’s third loan spell away from Barça, having previously moved to England with Tottenham and Aston Villa.
