As things stand, Barcelona are undergoing an injury crisis at the back, with the likes of Ronaldo Araujo and Andreas Christensen been deemed unfit for length spells.

The first name that was added to the aforementioned list was new signing Jules Kounde, though.

Succumbing to a hamstring against France during their 2-0 defeat to Denmark during the international break, he was ruled out of Barça’s last two games against Mallorca and Inter Milan.

However, a positive fitness update has arrived about the 23-year-old, which is set to delight culers across the globe.

According to the latest information provided by journalist Toni Juanmarti, Jules Kounde could be in contention to return in Barcelona’s return fixture against Inter. The player’s camp does not rule out said possibility if he continues to feel good, as he does right now.

If the Frenchman’s return against the Serie A giants manifests, he will be ready to face the likes of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich as the two standout opponents during a busy October period for the club.

With Eric Garcia and an out-of-favour Gerard Pique as the side’s only two senior centre-back options, Barcelona would receive a major boost if the former Sevilla defender is deemed available to play as soon as in the contest next Tuesday.

Additionally, Kounde’s ability to successfully deputise at right-back cannot go under the radar, especially due to Hector Bellerin’s ongoing injury woes.

The showdown against Inter Milan is a crucial one, considering the Catalan side have only won one and lost two out of their first three matches in the Champions League.

As for the El Clasico, aside from just being arguably the biggest game in Europe, it is especially essential as Xavi’s men only have a goal-difference lead at the top of La Liga over Real Madrid, which makes Kounde’s return imperative.
