Few could have imagined Ansu Fati’s career to pan out the way it did when he was busy smashing goals on the regular in the initial stages of the 2020/2021 season.

As fate had it, though, an injury against Real Betis turned out to be the moment that sparked Fati’s fall from grace.

Indeed, the La Masia graduate has since suffered a series of injury mares, which led to Barcelona sending Fati out on loan to revive his career last summer.

However, despite occasional moments of brilliance, the youngster has yet to showcase his best version or acquire consistency, rendering his future enshrouded in uncertainty.

Barcelona have made their decision

Now, as per an exclusive report from SPORT Barcelona have reached a decision over Fati’s future, with the club deeming it best to sell him this summer.

The 21-year-old appears to have not justified a return to the club, especially considering his progress was most recently halted by a calf injury that ruled him out for a couple of months.

Moreover, it is no secret that Barça have been put in a tight spot financially. With the club needing sales to comply with La Liga’s fair play laws, funds from Fati’s departure could go a long way.

De Zerbi banking on Fati

Although the injury has complicated the original plans, previous reports have argued that De Zerbi is certain that Fati can flourish under his guidance once more.

And Brighton may even consider extending his loan for the following campaign, which could offer the Catalan giants some temporary respite.

Furthermore, there has also been talk that should De Zerbi decide to leave Brighton, he has indicated a desire to bring Fati with him in order to further his growth.
