In today’s edition of Mundo Deportivo, the focus is back on potential summer signings, primarily those of the strikers who have been long linked to Barcelona. The outlet believe that Memphis Depay and Sergio Aguero, are both realistic options and can arrive at the club in the summer.

The Manchester City striker has been heavily linked to Barcelona since he announced his departure from England in the summer. The Argentine is supposedly the board’s preferred signing, perhaps due to his close relationship with Lionel Messi, which could be a massive bargaining chip to keep the winger at the club.

Ronald Koeman on the other hand, has been asking the club to sign Memphis Depay for as long as he has been in charge. The Lyon forward came astonishingly close to signing with Barcelona in January, before financial roadblocks put a nail into the deal.

However, with Ronald Koeman’s continuity no longer assured, there are also doubts about Depay’s signing. President Joan Laporta reportedly does not wish to bring Depay to the club, which is in line with rumours stating he preferred Aguero.

Today’s papers, however, state that there could be an easier solution instead of an either-or. It is believed that both players’ arrivals could be facilitated in the summer since they will arrive on free transfers after their contracts are up in June.

Sergio Aguero has reportedly expressed his desire to play alongside his fellow countryman Leo Messi, and the board approves of his signing as well. It was also previously reported that Depay was spotted in Barcelona, looking for houses impending a potential transfer.

Signing both the frontmen would make little sense from Barcelona’s perspective and although they will arrive for free, they would command a fair bit of money in wages. With all the focus currently on Barcelona’s remaining games of the league campaign, there may be no concrete news on this front for a while.
