Barcelona may take advantage of a relatively low release clause to sign attacking midfielder Pablo Sarabia.
Barcelona have already signed Athur Melo and Arturo Vidal during the summer transfer window but Sarabia could be a market opportunity too good to pass up.
The Catalan club don’t need any convincing that Sarabia possesses talent, he scored for Sevilla FC against the Catalans in the Spanish Supercup on 12 August.
Talks between the play-maker and Sevilla about a new contract were ongoing but appear to have stalled. Sevilla manager Pablo Machín recently spoke of Sarabia as a leader and crucial for the future of the club but the player reportedly wants a much-improved salary
Several clubs may tempt the 26-year old away from Andalusia after meeting a reported €22 million release clause. Sarabia has shown his versatility with Sevilla, playing well across the midfield and tucked-in behind a centre forward. The native of Madrid has scored 21 goals in his last three La Liga seasons for Sevilla and Getafe CF.
Despite signing Arthur and Vidal in midfield, Barcelona could still decide to activate Sarabia’s clause. The €22m figure is a palatable fee in the current transfer market and the Catalan giants could jump at the opportunity.
