According to Ferran Correas of SPORT, former Barcelona starlet and current Real Betis winger Ez Abde is generating significant interest from multiple teams.

Despite being a part of Manuel Pellegrini’s plans for the upcoming season, Betis are open to selling Abde if they receive a lucrative offer of €18-20 million.

As a result, Barcelona, Abde’s former club, stands to benefit from his potential sale due to a 50% sell-on clause negotiated when he was sold to Betis for €7.5 million last year.

This clause ensures that Barcelona will receive half of the sale amount if Abde is transferred in the future.

Abde’s impressive pre-season performance under Xavi’s guidance last year made his sale a surprise to many. However, Barcelona wisely retained 50% of his future sale value, which could now prove to be a shrewd move.

The Saudi interest

A year later and several teams from the lucrative Arab league have expressed interest in signing Abde, awaiting government approval to allocate funds for transfers.

While Abde’s preference is to continue playing for Betis, a substantial offer could change his mind.

Meanwhile, if Betis decide to sell him for €18-20 million, Barcelona would half the sum, i.e., around €9-10 million, similar to the amount they received from Chadi Riad’s transfer to Crystal Palace.

There’s interest from Spain too

Within Spain, Mallorca, coached by Jagoba Arrasate, who previously worked with Abde at Osasuna, has also shown interest in the winger.

However, Betis are aware that Mallorca lack the financial resources to meet their valuation of at least €15 million, which would only yield €7.5 million for Betis, considering Barcelona’s sell-on clause.

With Abde set to participate in the Paris Olympic Games with his national team Morocco, his value could increase if he performs well in the tournament.

As a result, Betis are adopting a wait-and-see approach, hoping to maximize their return on investment.
