After a successful campaign, FC Barcelona have identified two main positions as priority to strengthen the squad for the new season.
A goalkeeper and a new left-back are very much at the top of the agenda for the La Liga champions. Any signings beyond that will likely depend on potential exits as well as the club’s economic situation and Fair Play margin.
Barcelona also had plans to bring in a right-back this summer. But Eric Garcia’s emergence as an option in the role towards the end of the season has rendered it a low-priority case now.
Despite that, Fichajes reports that Barcelona continue to keep tabs on UD Almeria right-back Marc Pubill.
Despite playing this season in La Liga 2 with Almeria, the 21-year-old right-back continues to attract the attention of the Catalan club’s sporting department.

Barcelona see him as a strong candidate to reinforce a position that has historically been demanding within their tactical setup.
Pubill has been on the club’s list of potential reinforcements for a while now. In fact, a move for the 2024 Olympics gold medalist was in the works last summer but Fair Play concerns meant the deal fell through.
Pubill is valued for his physical strength, intelligent attacking runs, and tactical maturity, particularly notable given his age. Even in a lower-profile competition like the Spanish second division, Pubill has managed to stand out, despite Almeria enduring a difficult season.
As such, Barcelona continue to closely monitor the youngster even though the signing of a new right-back is not seen as a priority at the moment.
Should that change, Pubill will be one of the players that Barcelona could look to sign as cover and competition for Jules Kounde at right-back.
