According to a report from Estadio Deportivo, FC Barcelona are looking to partner up with Real Betis to sign Palmeiras midfielder Danilo who continues to impress the onlookers in South America despite his exclusion from the Selecao team for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Barça have been following the development of the Palmeiras midfielder for a while now and at just 21, they believe he could be an excellent investment for the future, especially with Sergio Busquets likey to move on. However, the club are not on board with the idea of paying a reported €25 million for the player.
That is why they are looking for partners, with Real Betis one of the clubs being considered. The two teams had done a joint venture to sign Brazilian starlet Emerson Royal a few years ago, an investment that turned out to be quite profitable for Betis.
This is because Los Beticos only had to pay half of the €12 million Atletico Mineiro received. They were able to keep the player at the club for more than two years, even transforming him into one of the most exciting young fullbacks in La Liga.
Moreover, Real Betis made a significant profit when he moved to Barcelona in 2021 and then earned 20% of the €30 million fee Tottenham Hotspur paid for the Brazilian that same summer.
In light of the success of the deal, Barcelona are looking to once again convince Real Betis to indulge in a joint partnership over Danilo.
The Catalans recognise Betis’ instant need for reinforcements in the midfield department, especially with Guido Rodriguez facing an uncertain future at the club.
Real Betis have been linked with a move for former star and Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos, but someone like Danilo could prove to be an excellent option for the Spanish outfit, as they look to add more ranks in the middle of the park.
