Ansu Fati’s time at Barcelona appears to be coming to an end, with reports from MARCA suggesting that his departure ahead of the 2025-26 season is practically guaranteed.

While negotiations with AS Monaco have hit a temporary roadblock, the consensus within the club is clear that Ansu will not be part of Hansi Flick’s plans next season.

Talks between Barcelona and Monaco have stalled due to disagreements over how the forward’s wages will be shared. Just a few weeks ago, the deal was all but confirmed, with both clubs feeling a move was imminent.

However, those talks have now cooled. Still, insiders maintain that this is a pause, not a collapse. Both clubs remain interested in closing the deal and are hoping to find common ground soon.

Deal not dead

Barcelona are aiming to finalise this move by the end of June, with Monaco also keen to wrap up the transfer so that the player can join in time for pre-season.

The Ligue 1 club wants their squad ready early, while Barcelona is eager to lighten their wage bill by moving on players who are no longer in the plans.

Despite the setback, the Blaugrana remain confident that an agreement will eventually be reached.

If not with Monaco, then possibly with another club, but one way or another, the message is clear that the winger will not be wearing the Barcelona shirt next season.

He wants to leave

Ansu, who is still under contract with Barça until June 2027, has also come to terms with the idea of leaving.

Those close to him have reportedly convinced him that staying put would harm his development, especially after another season on the sidelines or being sent on loan without a long-term plan.

For the 22-year-old, it is now about finding a fresh start, something that benefits both him and the club.
