Barcelona have confirmed an ankle sprain suffered by Frenkie de Jong during their defeat to Real Madrid on Sunday.
De Jong was stretchered off during the Blaugrana’s 3-2 loss at Santiago Bernabéu this weekend with what looked like a serious injury.
And that has been confirmed by the club on Monday with Barcelona releasing a statement this afternoon revealing a sprain to his right ankle.
Although there has been no official timeline for his recovery, the Netherlands international will in all likelihood be out for the remainder of the domestic season.
It is then touch and go as to whether the midfielder will be fit to be included in the Dutch squad for Euro 2024 with the tournament set to kick off on June 14.
