Pedri has been one of FC Barcelona’s best players since the start of the new season, excelling under Hansi Flick and helping the team win five in five.

The 21-year-old has looked in his best shape physically and is shining brightly on the pitch, emerging as a key difference-maker for the team.

As such, Barcelona are eager to tie Pedri down to a new contract, with his current deal expiring in 2026.

Positive talks held

Providing an update on the situation, Fabrizio Romano reports that discussions between Barcelona and Pedri over a new contract are underway and everything has progressed positively thus far.

Barça sporting director Deco had already confirmed that the club has been working to extend Pedri’s contract.

And now, with talks going positively, there is confidence from both Barcelona and the midfielder’s side that an agreement over a new deal will be reached.

In his four years at the club, Pedri has grown leaps and bounds and has even been named one of the captains this season. At 21, he still has a long career ahead of him and Barça want to ensure that he continues at the club.

The Spanish international, for his part, also desires to have a long stay at the Catalan capital outfit. With both parties on the same page and discussions over a new deal progressing positively, there is no reason why an agreement cannot be finalised.
