Xavi’s public announcement of his decision to leave Barcelona at the end of the season back in January provided the dressing room with just the right push that they required to get back on track.

From that point, until the unfortunate collapse against PSG, Barcelona looked cohesive, dominant and like genuine title contenders on all fronts.

It was not only the dressing room, however, that was impacted by Xavi’s announcement but the fans and the Barcelona board too.

After all, it is no coincidence that the manager has been praised and appreciated more for his contributions after the incident with many even calling for his continuity.

Conditions will be met

In what came as a breaking update, reports last night claimed that Xavi has decided to stay at Barcelona after a long meeting with the board yesterday.

However, it is no secret that the manager has had several demands in order to continue, the most important of which was the guarantee of big signings in the summer to reinforce positions of worry.

According to Xavi Lemus, the administration conveyed great optimism to the manager in that regard during the meeting.

They convinced Xavi that the club is close to returning to financial fair play stability and the 1:1 signing rule which will enable them to make some key signings possible in June.

Funding incoming

With the summer transfer window just around the corner, Joan Laporta and Co. are working around the clock to ensure that the club can reach the required level of financial stability in time.

A big update on that front surfaced yesterday, as it was revealed that Barcelona are in talks with parties in the US and Dubai to secure investments and bridge the defaulted payment by Libero which sank the club’s accounts last year.

More importantly, a new deal with Nike is beckoning, and Barcelona are likely to receive a huge financial injection in the form of a renewal bonus. The €100 million injection, they say, will go a long way in helping Barcelona return to the 1:1 rule.
