Barcelona confident about meeting their budget for this season despite some deviation – report | OneFootball

“If we meet the budget, the darkest stage in Barça’s history will end,” said Barcelona president Joan Laporta while asserting the utter importance of the need to comply with the budget for this season approved by the club Assembly.

Back in October 2023, the Barcelona board forecasted an income of €859 million and estimated expenses of €832 million for a final profit of €11 million after taxes for the 2023/24 season.

Interestingly enough, despite having evident difficulties this season, a report from SPORT has emerged that the team from Catalonia is expecting to meet the numbers.

But… there is a deviation

The outlet affirms that right now, there is a minimal deviation in the expenses cap of around €12 million which occurred due to Vitor Roque’s arrival and the contract extension of Xavi and his coaching staff.

However, this can be rectified by advancing to the UEFA Champions League quarter-final. As far as Barcelona’s income is concerned, which they anticipated to be €859 million, there is a small difference of only €15 million.

The reason for this is the move to Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys in Montjuic. The money coming in from the home matches hasn’t been as much as expected, leading to a deficit of over €20 million at this point in the season.

On the bright side, though, sales in the club’s stores are surpassing expectations.

So what next?

Barça are confident that these differences in income and expenses will be fixed in the remaining four months of the season. For instance, if they eliminate Napoli, they can expect good earnings from the home matches.

They also anticipate more tourists attending matches and visiting the museum in the last months of the season.

Additionally, there’s a possibility of Xavi’s team playing a friendly match, similar to what they did in December in Dallas, which could bring in €3-4 million for the club.

Apart from all this, the club is expecting to sign some new contracts in addition to the ones they already have in the commercial area. These new contracts will help meet the budget for this season and contribute to moving closer to the financial fair play rule.

Lastly, it is to be noted that these are not the only solutions for the club’s financial issues in La Liga. They also need a significant amount, around €40 million Libero, to address their problems. This is a more complex situation, but efforts are ongoing to secure the funds.
