Barcelona come to decision on potential Jonathan David signing | OneFootball

The transfer team at La Liga giants Barcelona have made a definitive call on the potential addition of Lille star Jonathan David next summer.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have confirmed that Barca do not intend to launch an assault on the attacker’s signature.

The name of frontman David has of course long proven a prominent one in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital.

This comes amid widespread claims that the Barcelona brass are considering a move to bring the Canadian international in for free for next season.

David has made clear on several occasions now that his dream is to wear the colours of the Blaugrana, a clear come-and-get-me plea to Deco and co.

As alluded to above, however, if the latest update on the situation to have surfaced on Thursday is anything to go by, then any such move actually coming to fruition is beginning to look less and less likely.

As per a report from MD, after extensive scouting, ‘it is understood that due to his playing profile, David would not be the most appropriate reinforcement’.

The Catalans can therefore be considered as having taken a ‘step back’ from the bidding war for the 24-year-old.
