Barcelona coach Xavi has left the door open to Lionel Messi returning.

It broke yesterday that Xavi had asked Barca president Joan Laporta to bring Messi back to the club next summer when his deal with PSG expires.

Currently in Dallas, Xavi said today: “Leo has a contract, it's impossible and it doesn't make sense to talk about him at the moment, but he's the best footballer in the world and in history and the president has already said that I hope Messi's story with Barça doesn't end.

"We will see in the future, but now is not the time to talk about Leo, it is the time to talk about the players we have.

"It's an exciting year."
