Barcelona close to reaching personal terms agreement with La Liga defender | OneFootball

FC Barcelona have stepped up their pursuit of a right-back in recent weeks as they look to find an ideal upgrade over Sergino Dest.

The American international has failed to impress Xavi and could be on his way out of Camp Nou, especially amid interest from Manchester United.

In an attempt to replace the former Ajax starlet, Barcelona have targeted Juan Foyth. The young Argentine currently plies his trade with Villarreal and is regarded as one of the most promising right-backs in La Liga, thanks to a bright spell at Estadio de la Ceramica.

Barça have been speeding up their quest to sign Foyth in recent days, even reportedly weighing up a fresh bid of around €30 million for the defender.

According to Gerard Romero, the Catalans have made another positive stride in the pursuit of the Argentine, as they are close to reaching personal terms with the player.

This could serve as a massive blow for Barça, especially with just a few weeks remaining until the summer transfer window slams to a shut. As mentioned earlier, the club are in active negotiations with Villarreal and remain determined to find an economic solution that should be beneficial to all parties involved.

Villarreal, for their part, have already started scouring the market for a right-back, in case they end up losing Foyth in the summer.

It should be enough to indicate that the Yellow Submarines are indeed entertaining the possibility of the Argentine’s sale this month and it could only be a matter of time before we see Foyth donning the famous Blaugrana kit.

However, if Barça are to close the signing, it will be imperative for them to offload Dest within the coming days. The American’s departure could go a long way in generating the revenue the club need, in order to fund the move for Juan Foyth this summer.
