RMC Sport’s Fabrice Hawkins reported on Saturday that Paris Saint-Germain is working on agreeing to personal terms with Athletic Club’s Nico Williams. This development has put FC Barcelona’s club chief on high alert as they aim to outmaneuver the French giants.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Barcelona is still awaiting Williams’ decision. Premier League clubs and PSG are also monitoring the situation, though it seems likely that he will choose to stay in Spain.
Romano also notes that Athletic Club has offered him a higher salary to persuade him to stay and a final decision is expected soon. With the Parisians pushing for Willams, Mundo Deprtivo reports the latest development on this file.
According to the Spanish media outlet, PSG are ramping up its pursuit of Williams, which concerns Barcelona. As a result, Deco, the Catalan club’s sports director, will not be traveling with the squad to the United States today for their preseason tour as they prepare for the 2024-25 season.
Last season, Williams made 37 appearances across all competitions for Athletic Club, scoring eight goals and registering 19 assists. Additionally, the winger played a role in winning the 2024 Copa del Rey.
