Having dropped four points over two matches against Inter, Barcelona are now on the brink of getting out of this season’s Champions League group stage.

Meanwhile, Barcelona president Joan Laporta has slammed the referee, Szymon Marciniak, in the game between Inter and Barça, suggesting that the decisions made against the Catalan club were “scandalous”. The club chief has admittedly discussed the matter with UEFA. As quoted by La Gazzetta dello Sport, he said:

“I’m sad and angry that we didn’t win despite scoring three goals. The Var did not award a penalty. In Milan, it was scandalous. We didn’t like the referee, it’s obvious. But if we had scored it would have been easier. I talked about it with UEFA, but there is no turning back. Next time we will have to score more goals.”

While the two consecutive results (one 1-0 defeat followed by a 3-3 draw at Camp Nou in the midweek) against Inter have left Barcelona’s ship sinking in the Champions League, the Italian side has now managed to go beyond the gloomy situation that has seen them lost three out of last five games in Serie A.
