Barcelona boss Xavi provides Vitor Roque update before Girona clash | OneFootball

Barcelona head coach Xavi has on Friday provided an update on the wellbeing of young attacker Vitor Roque.

This comes after Roque’s status to participate in Barcelona’s upcoming La Liga outing was thrown into doubt earlier in the day.

The Blaugrana are of course primed to return to action on Saturday evening.

In a crunch clash in the race for 2nd in the Spanish top-flight, Xavi’s troops will make the short trip to the Estadi Montilivi, for a meeting with Catalan neighbours Girona.

A little over 24 hours out from the matchup, however, the participation of the aforementioned Roque was thrown up in the air.

This came amid confirmation that the Brazilian did not partake in group training alongside the rest of Barca’s squad, owing to a bout of illness.

Speaking to the media in his pre-match press conference on Friday, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his struggling attacker’s wellbeing was put to boss Xavi.

And the Spanish tactician went on to confirm that, as of yet, Roque has not been ruled out against Girona:

“It could happen that he recovers tomorrow and is available, and that’s what we want. If we need him, he will participate.”
