Barcelona controlled the pitch during the opening minutes, with Ousmane Dembélé and Pedri particularly lively.

And around the 25th-minute mark, they thought they had the lead when the Spaniard put the ball in the net, only for VAR to rule it offside in the build-up.

However, Xavi’s side would then rely upon Robert Lewandowski, as he somewhat assisted himself and blasted home past Claudio Bravo for the opener.

Coming out into the second half Barcelona’s dominance slowed, while Real Betis knew they were still within reach of the final.

Sergio Canales and Nabil Fekir were key as Manuel Pellegrini’s side ramped up their attempts to draw level despite less possession of the ball.

Eventually, they made the most of one chance to turn the game level when Luiz Henrique teed up a wide-open Fekir for 1-1.

Late drama ensued as Lewandowski had a goal ruled offside, Marc-André Ter Stegen was called into action, and Ansu Fati forced Bravo into making a big stop to push the match into extra time.

Within minutes though, the 20-year-old beat the veteran with an impressive left-footed volley into the far right corner.

Yet much like the second half, Betis were able to rally for another goal as Barcelona again sat back.

Brilliant team play saw Henrique record his second assist of the night as he teed up Loren Morón whose back-heel volley turned things 2-2 in style.

Real Betis would eventually finish extra-time with 10 men as Andrés Guardado was shown two yellows in two minutes but Barcelona couldn’t capitalise on the advantage.

The match then went to penalties and Barcelona won thanks to two saves from Ter Stegen.

Time for the world to prepare for El Clásico in the final on Sunday.
