The brass at La Liga giants Barcelona have this week moved to turn up the heat on a member of the club’s youth setup.
This comes amid confirmation that goalkeeper Áron Yaakobishvili has been omitted from Barcelona’s matchday squad to face Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Youth League.
Yaakobishvili and his entourage have long been locked in negotiations with those behind the scenes at the Camp Nou.
As much comes with a view to extending the youngster’s contract beyond its current expiration date at the end of the season.
Yaakobishvili, for his part, is held in high regard by all at The Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, and has even been called up for matchday duties by first-team boss Hansi Flick on a number of occasions this season.
With the 18-year-old continuing to drag his feet regarding a renewal, however, the Blaugrana have on Wednesday taken firm action.
As per a report from Diario Sport, Yaakobishvili, who was expected to start the clash, has been completely omitted from Barcelona’s Juvenil A squad to face Borussia Dortmund this evening.
As much comes as a ‘punishment’ for what has been deemed as a lack of commitment to the cause in Catalunya’s capital, with it now remaining to be seen if the move has the desired effect when it comes to the shot-stopper’s future.
