Barcelona have been struggling with their finances for the last several seasons, and will be hoping that this is the last summer they have to deal with it before returning to the 1:1 rule in La Liga.

However, while their wage bill is deeply unstructured and problematic, Barcelona are still one of the most valuable clubs in the world, and have been ranked third in the list of clubs with the highest market value, as per Forbes.

Real Madrid well clear of everyone

According to the list, Real Madrid are on top of this list, with a market value of $6.6 billion (€6.08 billion), with Manchester United closely trailing them at $6.55 billion (€6.04 billion).

Barcelona are an entire billion behind their rivals, sitting at a market value of $5.6 billion (€5.16 billion). This valuation has certainly dropped across the last few years, especially following the departure of Lionel Messi and other marketable superstars.

Liverpool and Manchester City complete the top five, with their respective market values sitting at $5.37 billion (€4.95 billion) and $5.1 billion (€4.7 billion).

Bayern Munich, PSG, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, and Arsenal round off the top ten list, with values ranging from $5 billion to $2.6 billion.

Barcelona do have one of the highest revenues in world football, having touched over €1 billion in their recent financial years. Their shirt sales – also highest in the world – is a huge contributor towards the cause, as well.

The Spotify sponsorship deal, along with the new Nike kit manufacturer deal is expected to make Barcelona’s shirt the most valuable in the world, as well, which means these numbers could soon pump up significantly.
