With only a couple of weeks remaining before the transfer window slams to a shut, Barcelona must make a few tough decisions as they look to complete their squad by the end of the month.

As part of the operation, there are players who are still facing an uncertain future at the club and could possibly leave Camp Nou in the coming days.

Among them is Frenkie de Jong, having been subjected to a move away from Barcelona throughout the course of the summer. The midfielder has seemingly fallen out of favour with the coach and the fans, and it appears an exit could soon be on the horizon.

This has been reported by Diario SPORT, who suggests the midfielder is not considered highly in the Barcelona camp anymore.

The club are angling towards his sale, not only due to financial reason but also due to sporting reasons. They believe the player has never really lived up to the expectations since joining from Ajax in the summer of 2019.

Although de Jong is still considered one of the most talented midfielders in Europe, his inability to impose his authority in the middle of the park, coupled with a lack of consistency has compelled Barcelona to sanction his exit in these final few weeks of the transfer market.

De Jong has been primarily linked with a move to Manchester United during the majority of the summer. But it appears Chelsea have emerged as a late contender and are prepared to fight until the very end to sign the Dutchman.

In the Barcelona camp, they believe selling de Jong in favour of a move for Bernardo Silva could be a logical move for all parties involved.

The operation to sign the Manchester City superstar, though, is far from simple. The Portuguese international is valued at around €100 million, meaning Barcelona may also have to sell other players if they are to fund a move for the playmaker this summer.
