Barcelona left it late to surge to a dramatic 3-2 win against Borussia Dortmund last night to keep themselves on track to reach the last-16 in the Champions League.
The La Liga giants had a chance to open the scoring in the 15th minute, but Raphinha’s s shot veered wide.
Marcel Sabitzer missed Dortmund’s best opportunity. Gregor Kobel was Dortmund’s saviour at the other end as he denied Lamine Yamal and Jules Kounde with brilliant saves.
Jamie Gittens thought he had given Dortmund the lead five minutes after the break as he set up Serhou Guirassy to tap home, but the goal was disallowed for offside.
Barca quickly punished them, with Raphinha slotting home after Dani Olmo’s pull-back to give them the lead in Dortmund.
Guirassy drew Dortmund level on the hour after being fouled by Pau Cubarsi. The striker confidently scored the resulting penalty.
However, Barca responded swiftly through substitute Ferran Torres after Kobel had parried Fermin Lopez’s shot to restore the lead.
Guirassy passed up a gilt-edged opportunity to level, heading over from close range. He made amends when Inaki Pena’s ill-advised rush out of goal allowed Pascal Groß to tee him up for a cool finish.
As Dortmund pressed for a winner, Barcelona delivered on the counter. Yamal found Torres, and he drilled home a decisive finish to seal victory for the visitors.
