After trying to convince Xavi for the last several weeks, Barcelona seem to have changed their approach for the worse today after holding meetings with the Spaniard.

Reports had suggested that not only was Xavi exhausted after over two years as manager of the club, but he was also unhappy with how the club had behaved today, especially asking him to change his coaching staff.

He had rejected both requests made by Deco regarding the same, with all signs pointing towards Barcelona looking for a new manager at the end of the season.

RAC1 have now spilled the details regarding the two alterations that were asked of Xavi today in the meeting.

Physical preparation and assistant coach

According to the report, Barcelona have asked Xavi to change the physical trainer for the squad, but more importantly, replace the assistant coach, Oscar Hernandez, who is his older brother.

This news is particularly interesting because the Barcelona squad seem to be gelling well with Oscar, and have dubbed him Jurgen Klopp due to his uncanny facial resemblance to the German manager.

The Spaniard also has an excellent record while coaching Barcelona, having won all seven games he has taken over from Xavi due to the former midfielder picking up suspensions for dissent.

And as for the physical trainer, Barcelona seem unhappy with the squad’s physical preparation heading into big games, such as El Clasico and the Champions League fixtures, where they seem to be dominated.

Important players such as Pedri, Ronald Araujo, Frenkie de Jong, and others have also picked up several injuries under Xavi’s tutelage, which the club seem particularly unhappy with.

The final decision will come down to Xavi and Joan Laporta, with the latter now at a crossroads after pushing for the Spaniard’s continuity over the last three months.
