The pursuit for Erling Haaland in the summer is seemingly still a priority for Barcelona and president Joan Laporta. The Norwegian has been linked to Barcelona for quite a while now, but the rumours about him have relatively died down in recent weeks, until now.

According to today’s edition of SPORT, the Catalans are still trying for Haaland. They are studying every possible avenue to facilitate a move to the Camp Nou, as Joan Laporta is a huge fan of the player and wants to bring him to Spain by any measures within their means.

Borussia Dortmund have slapped a very hefty price tag of over 150 million euros for Erling Haaland at the very least. However, with Barcelona’s financial situation in dire straits, that kind of funding will be nearly impossible to acquire off the bat.

Barcelona have been in need of a pure number ‘9’, and it is considered one of the most important positions to reinforce come the summer. Therefore, the club is looking to act accordingly, as GiveMeSport report that Dortmund have already received a bid from the Catalans for their young star.

Haaland is already on the radar for many clubs, including Manchester United. Barcelona’s initial offer is rumoured to be around 105 million euros, which is a lowball offer to get started. It is believed that the quoted price of 150 million euros or upwards can only be paid by Manchester City.

Signing Haaland will be a massive task for Barcelona and their first bid is realistically never going to be accepted. With Sergio Aguero and Memphis Depay also among the targets for the club, their attention from Haaland could be deviated due to the low cost of the other two operations.
