In a recent report, A Bola mentioned that Barcelona are set to rival Bayern Munich for Manchester United playmaker Bruno Fernandes. It has been stated that the Catalan club are showing interest in recruiting the Portugal international this summer.

The 29-year-old had another productive campaign at Old Trafford as he managed to put in a lot of influential displays for Man United in the final third. Fernandes has scored 15 times and secured 13 assists in 48 matches for the Red Devils last season across all competitions.

The Portugal international has been a consistent performer in the final third based on his average of 2.7 shots, 3.3 key passes, 1.5 crosses and 0.5 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He has even distributed possession accurately in the opposition half after completing 79.4% of his attempted passes in the top tier of English football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the Mancunian club will expire in the summer of 2026 which could make it difficult for Barcelona to sign him on a cut-price deal later this year.

Should Barcelona Go For Fernandes?

Fernandes is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can shoot the ball with a lot of power and precision from long range. He has also got the eye to play a few decisive passes on the offensive end of the field.

The Portuguese sensation can contribute by scoring and creating his fair share of goals up top. He mainly operates in the number ten position but can also fill in as a box-to-box midfielder if told to do so.

Fernandes would bring more goals and creativity to Barcelona‘s frontline. He has what it takes to secure a regular starting place at the Nou Camp next season. At 29, the Portuguese playmaker is enjoying his prime and is well-equipped to make an instant impact at the Catalan club.

Plus, Fernandes could help Barca challenge for some major honours over the next few years. Thus, Barcelona should consider going for someone with his skillset as they look to strengthen their squad in this summer transfer period.
