There have been many new faces that have emerged as great revelations for Barcelona this season. Some players have been hyped since quite some time even before their debuts while others have been surprising entries. Ultimately, both sets of players have been positive additions to this Barcelona team.
Even when it comes to the club’s young signings, which includes a lot of players who were yet to make a name for themselves, the Catalan giants have been willing to take risks. Most of the time, these risks have paid off and that has been enough incentive for the club to continue along that path.
Now, looking ahead to the future, Barcelona are convinced that signing more young players is their best opportunity to shape such talents into the exact kind of players the club wants them to be. As such, it is only natural for La Blaugrana to keep an eye on Europe’s most promising breakout stars.
One such name, Alvaro Carreras, is now also being monitored by Barcelona, according to SPORT. For the Catalan giants, the 21-year-old SL Benfica left-back is one of Europe’s most exciting players in that particular position and given that he belongs to Spain, he could be a great fit for the club.
Alejandro Balde remains the undisputed starter of the team for now, and while Gerard Martin has stayed as his alternative option for now, Hansi Flick could potentially want some new firepower in the future. That is why, for the next summer transfer window, Barcelona are keeping an eye out for Carrera and his progression. Despite moving to Benfica just this year, he could be sold by the Portuguese club for a significant profit in the next summer window.
Interestingly, he is a player who previously belonged to both Manchester United and Real Madrid at youth level. After spending several years with both teams, his career choices ultimately took him over to Portugal as he believed that he would get more opportunities over there in comparison to staying in the Premier League with the Manchester-based outfit.
Highlighted as being a very offensive fullback and likes to play with a high-tempo, something that would help him adapt to Flick’s philosophy quite naturally. However, teams such as Juventus, Atletico Madrid, and even his two former clubs in Manchester United, and Real Madrid, are reportedly keen on potentially acquiring his services for the future.
As for Barcelona, the club remains excited by the player and Deco has even seen him play in person. Reportedly, the Barça Director has been thoroughly impressed by his performances both in the local competitions of Portugal as well as the Champions League. Having gained prominence with Spain’s Under-21 team as well recently, it would seem that the young fullback is truly destined for greatness.
