Barcelona have signed Swedish prodigy Roony Bardghji from FC Copenhagen on a four-year deal until 2029, confirmed by the club.

Bardghji is Barca’s second summer acquisition following the arrival of Spanish goalkeeper Joan Garcia from Espanyol for €25 million.

The Catalan giants will pay a fixed fee of €2m plus add-ons for Bardghji and have included a sell-on clause in the deal.

The 19-year-old was on the radar of several top European clubs, but Barcelona won the race to snap him up for a bargain price.

Bardghji endured an injury-plagued 2024/25 campaign, but he burst onto the scene at Copenhagen the previous season.

The Swedish star bagged 11 goals in all competitions, including stellar performances against Manchester United and Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

Bardghji will be a significant addition to Barca’s attack, especially as a back-up for prodigious winger Lamine Yamal.

Barca manager Hansi Flick will be keen to ease the Spaniard’s workload. The 18-year-old started in 51 out of 55 games last season, racking up 18 goals and 25 assists.

One of the finest products of Copenhagen’s talent factory, Bardghji is a left-footed winger renowned for his dribbling prowess and playmaking abilities.

Flick will take stock of the Swede’s potential in pre-season, and the prodigious winger has an opportunity to make a good first impression.

Barca will now turn their attention towards signing a new left-winger.

Having failed to sign Nico Williams, they are monitoring Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford and Liverpool’s Luis Diaz.

Diaz is also on Bayern Munich’s wishlist, while Rashford is keen on moving to Barcelona to revive his career.
