Days after being accused of ‘unsportsmanlike behaviour’ for his clash with Dani Ceballos in El Clasico, Gavi was forced to mend the bridges with the Real Madrid star. The duo were called up together for La Roja and the manager did not wish for any friction.

Speaking to the press ahead of Spain’s game against Norway in the Euro qualifiers, newly appointed manager Luis de la Fuente talked about how the Gavi and Ceballos’ relationship in training.

“Ceballos and Gavi have shown exceptional human quality. They are going to give their lives for each other,” he said about his midfielders as revealed on RFEF’s twitter page.

The Barcelona and Real Madrid midfielders have a long history of tussles on the field, and unsurprisingly, a lot of friction between them. Yet, it is not difficult to comprehend the reason for the same as they play for rival clubs.

When the duo met in the final of the Spanish Super Cup earlier this year, Ceballos grabbed and pulled the Golden boy’s hair in the middle of the field.

His actions came out of pure frustrations as Real Madrid were embarrassingly 3-0 down at the time and sparked a big fight between the sides on the field.

More recently, the Spanish midfielders locked horns in the league Clasico on March 19th. On that occasion, it was Gavi who intentionally pushed the Real Madrid man in the middle of the field to avenge the foul Ceballos committed on Robert Lewandowski.

The teenager’s aggression did not go down in the Real Madrid dressing room, and several players of Ancelotti’s side are said to have sent messages to Barcelona players about his attitude on the field.

The midfielders must share the dressing room for two games in the coming week before returning to club duty. They will face each other for the last time this season in the first week of April, and it remains to be seen as to who has the last laugh.
