According to AS, Barcelona and Real Madrid are competing head to head for the potential signing of two free agents in the summer.

The two players being targetted by the Spanish Giants are Franck Kessie of AC Milan and Antonio Rudiger of Chelsea. Both the midfielder and centre-back are out of contract in June, and thus a target of multiple European supergiants.

Both the Spanish sides have been actively looking out for free transfers over the past year, and this comes as s golden opportunity.

Kessie is a highly valued midfielder who not only possesses the physicality but also the technical ability to lift the quality of any team he steps into.

However, the biggest obstacle in his signing for both the Spanish sides is Paris Saint Germain. The French side are looking to upgrade their midfield in the coming summer. Given their economic stability, they can offer a more lucrative contract to the Ivorian.

Meanwhile, Antonio Rudiger too is eyed by both clubs as a reinforcement in the defense. Real Madrid are looking to reuse the same formula they used on David Alaba to lure the German international to the Bernabeu.

However, Barcelona are prioritizing his signing given their persistent issues in the defence. Moreover, the Catalans will need a backup in case Clement Lenglet and Samuel Umtiti leave in the summer.

Rudiger is not willing to commit his future to Chelsea, especially given that the Blues are looking to sign a young centre-back, reportedly one like Jules Kounde. That said, the door is open for him to leave on a free transfer.
