L’Équipe report this afternoon that Sochaux youth team player Amidou Doumbouya has attracted interest from beyond France for his first professional contract.
Both Barcelona and Freiburg are looking to sign him, and are prepared to wait until he turns 16 in August in order to offer him a contract – in a move that would potentially bring in €2m for his formative club.
Doumbouya, who can play both as a centre-back and as a central midfielder, is an U16 international with France, winning seven of the ten games he has played for his country. He was previously in the Bourges youth system, until he moved to the Jaune et Bleu academy last summer. In particular, the 15-year-old impressed during the Montaigu youth tournament earlier this year, in which the French team finished in third place. Les Bleuets had beaten Romania in the third-place decider after losing out in the semi-finals to Japan, who themselves would fall to England in the final.
