Barcelona had their eyes on controversial former Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood this past summer after he impressed on loan at Getafe last season.
Indeed, the same has been confirmed by Getafe president Angel Torres, who revealed that senior club officials had asked about the Englishman.
However, nothing came of it in the end and the attacker secured a permanent transfer to Ligue 1 side Marseille in a deal worth £26.6 million, where he is now thriving.
Now, according to a report from talkSPORT, Barcelona still retain an interest in Mason Greenwood and are tracking his performances at Marseille.
Having scored 10 goals in 36 games for Getafe last season, the 22-year-old has made a fine start to life in Ligue 1, already netting five goals and assisting one more in just four matches.
Greenwood is the current top scorer in Ligue 1, and only Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland has scored more than him in Europe’s top five leagues.

All this appears to have caught the attention of several elite clubs across Europe, including Barcelona, as well as Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid.
As per the report, all the aforementioned European giants have had scouts watch Greenwood in action in France and track his progress.
Meanwhile, another report from journalist Graeme Bailey reports that Real Madrid and PSG, too, have been closely following Greenwood since his arrival in France.
The 22-year-old is contracted with Marseille until the summer of 2029. After a tough few years, the attacker is hoping to start afresh and has begun things on a solid note with the Ligue 1 club.
Whether it paves the way for a return to the elite for Greenwood remains to be seen.
