La Liga giants Barcelona have on Tuesday officially registered new signing Wojciech Szczęsny for action on the continent.
Goalkeeper Szczęsny, of course, was last week unveiled as a new Barcelona player.
Sought out as a needed reinforcement on the back of the long-term injury suffered by Marc-André ter Stegen, the 34-year-old put pen to paper on terms in Catalunya’s capital through the summer of 2025.
In linking up with Hansi Flick’s Barca, Szczęsny brought a close to what was a short-lived retirement, after calling time on his career at the end of last season.
This means that the Pole did not enjoy a pre-season like the rest of the Blaugrana’s squad, lacking somewhat in match sharpness as a result.
Early reports, though, point towards the coaching staff in Catalunya as having been left altogether impressed by the level displayed by their new shot-stopper in training.
On Tuesday, it should therefore come as little surprise to hear of Barcelona reiterating their faith in Szczęsny’s talents moving forward.
This comes amid confirmation that the 34-year-old has been registered to play in the Champions League for the rest of the season.
