Barcelona have been trying to get hold of the services of Rashford for a few weeks now, but a rising salary bill has complicated the operation.

Barcelona exploring Rashford pursuit

A recent report from GOL has offered an update on Barcelona’s pursuit of Rashford, as the club desperately looks for reinforcements in the attacking unit.

As per the report, the Catalans are still looking for ways to sign Rashford, even as they face salary cap woes.

There are certain levers and clauses that Barcelona are counting on to help get them over the line, which includes the potential sale of former defender Oscar Mingueza.

Barça retain a 50% sell-on fee clause for the Celta Vigo defender and his potential sale could bring in a fresh revenue of €10 million, thereby helping Barcelona’s balance sheets.

Other potential levers include the sale of some of the unwanted stars in the squad. One of the top candidates for a sale is Ansu Fati, who has fallen out of favour under Hansi Flick.

However, getting rid of the Spaniard won’t be a straightforward task, given that the clubs interested in his services may have economic shortcomings.

Fati, after all, does command a hefty salary while the player himself is not too keen on leaving Barcelona.

The Catalans, therefore, must work round the clock in the coming days if they are to get rid of Fati or any other unwanted star in the team.
