Over the past few days, there has been intense speculation about the future of Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessie.

The 25-year-old arrived at the club only last summer, joining as a free agent after letting his AC Milan contract run down. However, during his short time at Spotify Camp Nou, he has failed to make the kind of impact expected of him.

With Kessie struggling to garner minutes on the pitch and Barcelona in need of reducing their salary mass, it has led to speculations about the Ivorian’s future at the club ahead of the January window.

Despite his agent suggesting otherwise, reports indicate that Kessie has been offered to Italian clubs like AC Milan and Inter Milan, with the latter seeking a loan move in January or a free transfer next summer.

However, according to a fresh update from Mundo Deportivo, Kessie is not thinking about the rumours and about the prospect of leaving Barcelona in January at the moment. The midfielder is intent on proving that he can be a useful member of the team under Xavi.

Kessie had picked up an injury against Viktoria Plzen in Barça’s final UEFA Champions League group game of the season in early November and has been out of action since.

With Ivory Coast not qualifying for the World Cup, the midfielder has had time to recover and recuperate from his injury.

As per the report, even though Xavi had given him an extended vacation to players until December 5, Kessie returned to Barcelona this past Thursday and is continuing his rehabilitation as he looks to be ready and available for the derby against RCD Espanyol on December 31.

Since joining the club, Kessie has played 13 times across all competitions, scoring one goal in the process. The 25-year-old is a quality player but has found it hard to fit into the scheme of things under Xavi.

Whether that changes over the course of the season remains to be seen. However, at the moment, Kessie is not thinking about leaving Barcelona.
