Barcelona ace Lionel Messi reached 700 career goals in their 6-1 victory at Real Sociedad on Sunday.

The Argentine netted two against the Basques as Barca thrashed La Real.

Messi has scored 663 goals in official competitions and in friendlies he has bagged 37 for the Catalans.

Messi also overtook legend Xavi Hernandez as the player who has played the most games for the club, making his 768th appearance for Barca on Sunday.

The Argentine's second goal was also the team's 100th this season.
