Barcelona accuse Athletic Club of forcing Nico Williams to record return video – report

Earlier this week, Nico Williams returned to training with Athletic Club – this has all-but confirmed that he will not be leaving Bilbao this summer, much to the disappointment of Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

Barcelona appear to have already moved on from Williams, given that they are closing in on the signing of Dani Olmo. However, some within the club are still hopeful that a deal can be arranged for the 22-year-old winger.

Remarkably, TV3 have reported that those at Can Barca believe that Williams was forced to record the video that showed him returning to training, and thus ending any doubts of him leaving Athletic this summer. Thus, there is a belief from within the club that the player did not want to record the footage.

It’s a rather bizarre stance from those at Barcelona, if it is indeed true. There’s many reasons that Williams would want to stay put at Athletic Club, so there’s no shame in missing out on him this summer. They could go again in 2025, provided that a new contract, with a vastly increased release clause, is not signed.
