As reported earlier today, Barcelona have now made Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford their priority target for the left flank.

The 27-year-old forward has jumped ahead of Luis Diaz on the Blaugrana’s shortlist as a deal for the Liverpool winger is proving to be difficult to pull off.

Barcelona advancing efforts for Rashford

In fact, according to journalists Shaun Connolly and Albert Fernandez, Barcelona are now advancing efforts to sign Rashford from Manchester United this summer.

It is no secret at this point that the England attacker sees a move to Barcelona as his dream and has been rejecting other proposals in the hope of joining the La Liga champions.

A move to Barça, though, would require Rashford to take a mammoth 40% cut on his salary, which is something he appears prepared to do in order to secure the transfer.

As far as Manchester United’s stance is concerned, they were previously insisting on a permanent sale for a fee of around €40 million.

However, as per the aforementioned update, the Red Devils are now open to accepting a loan departure as long as it contains a mandatory purchase clause in the deal.

So, it appears like things might be moving forward as far as Barcelona and their interest in Rashford is concerned.

Whether it materialises into a transfer in the coming weeks remains to be seen, although Barça might have to wait until early August to pull the trigger when they expect to return to the 1:1 Fair Play rule.
