Guille Fernandez is widely regarded as one of the brightest prospects coming through the ranks at Barcelona’s La Masia currently.
Just 17 years old, the young midfielder had already established himself as a regular for Barça Atletic last season, and has participated in the pre-season with the senior team for two summers in a row.
While his official first-team debut is yet to happen, it is clear that Guille is a player that Hansi Flick rates highly and is happy to keep around in the senior squad dynamics.
However, with the competition in midfield, coupled with the fact that Barça Atletic are playing in the RFEF Segunda Division this term, led to speculations over his future, with European giants like Borussia Dortmund and FC Porto showing interest.
However, according to Mundo Deportivo, Guille has decided his future. Despite receiving interest from clubs such as Dortmund and Porto, who were willing to sign him outright or take him on loan with a purchase option, the midfielder has opted to stay at Barcelona.
According to sources close to the player, the teenager has chosen to remain with the reserve team for another season while trying to take advantage of opportunities that may arise with the first team.

Hansi Flick included him in the summer tour of Asia and also called him up for the opening La Liga fixture against Mallorca at Son Moix, where he wore the No. 30 shirt. He continues to train regularly with the first-team squad.
Although Flick made clear that both Marc Casado and Fermin Lopez are untouchable in his plans, it cannot be ruled out that Barcelona may be forced into an unpopular sale to register the remaining players (Gerard Martin, Wojciech Szczesny and Roony Bardghji).
If that scenario arises, Guille could find an opening to gain playing time with the first team, which has reinforced the importance of his decision to stay at Barcelona.
For now, the youngster remains focused on delivering a strong season for Barça Atletic under Juliano Belletti, with the aim of achieving promotion back to the Primera RFEF. However, he is also keeping his sights set on the ultimate goal of breaking into the first team.
On Friday, Guille was a standout performer in the reserves’ 3-0 victory against Atletic Lleida. The midfielder opened the scoring with a stunning strike from the edge of the box, sending the ball into the top corner. Aziz added the second goal before Bardghji sealed the win.
