Having enjoyed his breakthrough during the second half of the 2023/24 campaign under Xavi Hernandez, Hector Fort was tipped for a greater role when the new season began with Hansi Flick at the helm.

However, it was not to be as the La Masia graduate found regular minutes hard to come by under the German, who preferred Jules Kounde as his first-choice starter.

Even after the Frenchman’s injury in the final phase of the season, Flick turned to Eric Garcia to fill in at right-back ahead of Fort, leading to speculations about the youngster’s future.

Hector Fort does not wish to leave

However, according to the latest update from Mundo Deportivo’s Gabriel Sans, Fort is not considering leaving Barcelona in the summer transfer window and the right-back is fully committed to staying.

With a contract running until 2029, automatically extended by three years last summer, the academy product is focused on continuing under the management of Hansi Flick.

Fort has attracted interest from clubs both in Spain and outside – PSV Eindhoven made an approach, while Valencia also made contact. But that has not altered his decision.

Fort has made his intentions of wanting to stay clear, and the Blaugrana have responded in kind, already informing him of their plans to keep him, barring any unforeseen changes in the transfer market.

Despite Flick having preferred Kounde and Eric ahead of him, Barcelona maintain that the teenage prospect remains part of their plans.

La Masia through and through, Fort has been at Barça since he was seven years old and will continue beyond the summer, hoping to earn a more prominent role in the first-team setup next season after featuring only 21 times in 2024/25.
