With each passing day in the summer transfer window, it appears like Joao Felix is slipping farther and farther away from FC Barcelona.

The 24-year-old forward spent the last season on loan at Barça from Atletico Madrid, but is now set to return to his parent club, where he has no future.

The Blaugrana are keen on bringing him back, but only on a loan deal – something that the Rojiblancos are dead set against. With Benfica coming forward with an offer to buy 50% of the attacker’s rights, the balance has tilted their way.

Joao Felix, for his part, has always maintained that he wants to come back to Barcelona but at the moment the situation is not looking very positive.

Joao Felix sets a deadline

Now, according to SPORT, Joao Felix has set a deadline of July 27, by which he wants his future to be resolved, one way or the other, as he does not wish for the matter to get dragged on until late in the transfer window.

The Portuguese forward does not want to return to Atletico and does not want to drag out his future until the end of the market like last year.

So, the chances of him ending up at Benfica are now very high, despite the fact that there is still no agreement.

Joao Felix has made it clear to his entourage that his priority is to remain at Barça, although it is unlikely that the Blaugrana will be able to make an imminent move due to salary cap problems.

Furthermore, as iterated earlier, Barça will only offer a loan deal with a non-mandatory buy option, which Atletico do not want.

Joao Felix to return to Barcelona?

Meanwhile, Benfica are prepared to go all out to sign Joao Felix and are reportedly offering €30 million for 50% of his rights to Atletico Madrid.

Benfica sporting director Rui Pedro Braz is in constant contact with the player’s agent, Jorge Mendes, and hopes that the player will give in and accept a financial proposal in which he would have to reduce his salary somewhat.

Joao Felix, however, is yet to give an OK to Benfica’s proposals despite appreciating their efforts as he waits for Barcelona to move.

At the same time, Aston Villa have also entered the picture, offering a loan deal with a mandatory buy option.

Barcelona are well aware of all these developments and will make a decision in the next few days, knowing that time is running out fast.
