Barcelona president Joan Laporta has insisted that the club do not want to sell Frenkie de Jong this summer.
The Dutch midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United to reunite with former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag.
United have positioned themselves as frontrunners for the player if Barcelona look to sell him, but Laporta has now said that is not their aim.
“Frenkie is not for sale, he’s a Barça player,” Laporta said at the unveiling of new midfield signing Franck Kessié.
“We don’t want to sell him unless we have no choice.
“Of course we know there are offers for but we don’t want to sell him.”
The Barça president then went on to provide an update on the future of Ousmane Dembélé, who has been linked with a switch to Chelsea and is now a free agent.
“No precise date has been set for Dembélé’s renewal,” Laporta added.
“He is no longer a Barça player, but an offer was made to him as a result of sporting interest. They have answered. At the moment they do not accept it, but they do not reject it either.”
There is plenty still to be decided this summer as the new season nears.
