A report from Marca on Monday evening claimed a deal was done and David Alaba would become a Real Madrid player this summer.
The defender’s Bayern Munich contract expires at the end of the season and Bayern have confirmed he will not be receiving a new offer after talks broke down.
Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool, Manchester United and more have all been linked but it seems Madrid lead the race.
A race that, according to Alaba’s dad, is not run.
“I can’t confirm the reports coming out of Spain,” George Alaba, who represents his son, told Bild on Tuesday.
“Nothing is sorted out or signed. There are a lot of interested parties.”
Real Madrid are still thought to be favourites but things aren’t over just yet, with Sky Germany suggesting the Alaba camp will wait for the Barcelona presidential election to take place before deciding where the player will be playing next season.
