In spite of perpetual rumours suggesting his exit, Mario Balotelli ended up staying at Genoa in the January transfer market and reiterated his intention to prove his worth at the club in his latest Instagram story.
The 34-year-old joined Grifone in late October under manager Alberto Gilardino, but his arrival was quickly followed by the appointment of new coach Patrick Vieira.

The former Inter and Milan striker failed to impress Vieira, as he racked up as little as six Serie A appearances throughout his first three months at the club, all of which saw him come on as a second-half substitute.
While even Genoa director Marco Ottolini recently admitted they were trying to ‘find a solution’, Balotelli didn’t leave the club during the transfer window and published an Instagram story accompanied by a caption which says he is trying to keep his ‘promise’.
“Still trying to keep my promise,” reads the message.
“I’m a man of my word.”
