Ballon d'or
While we wait for September 22, the identity of Rodri's successor to lift the Ballon d'Or has now been unveiled.
In less than four weeks, the traditional Ballon d’Or ceremony, organized by France Football, will take place. The name of the Ballon d’Or winner will be officially announced on September 22, along with the recipients of the other prestigious trophies, including the Lev Yashin Trophy for the best goalkeeper and the Raymond Kopa Trophy awarded to the best young player.
Now, the die is cast! Voting officially closed this Monday, and the verdict is in—known only to a select few at France Football. As a reminder, no fewer than 100 journalists, one representative from each of the top 100 FIFA-ranked nations, were invited to submit their Top 10 for the 2024-2025 season. The first place received 15 points, second 12 points, third 10 points, fourth 8 points, fifth 7 points, and so on down to the tenth, who earned just a single point.
Three key criteria guide Ballon d’Or voters: individual performances and their decisive impact, team achievements and trophies won, and finally, class and fair play.
